What is Help the Harris Family??

Our group of friends is like a large family.  We are a wonderful mix of cousins, siblings, good friends from way back, and a few folks we've only known a few years that seem like they've always been around (or should have been).  Most of us are in our mid to late thirties, so it was quite unexpected when the heart of our group, Jeni, was diagnosed with breast cancer in late 2011 at just 39 years old. 

It is hard for me to explain what Jeni means to our group.  She is at the center of everything.  She hosts dinners and breakfasts and get-togethers for no good reason.  She keeps everyone connected.  She is the type of friend that would literally do anything she could for her friends.  And so it was without any hesitation that our group has rallied together, gotten organized, and put together this fundraising group to help our friend.  It feels so good to be able to do something for her to help, even just a little bit, make this whole ordeal a little less devastating.

Jeni works at a local dental office, and is working when she can during chemotherapy (amazing woman!).  Her husband is a talented carpenter for a local builder, and the last few years have been slow, but he is thankful to be busy at the moment.  Since they both work for local small businesses, they have insurance with very high out of pocket expenses (over $15,000 since her treatment will span two years!).  We want to whatever we can to ease the financial burden for them, so Jeni can focus on beating this thing.  She will certainly be doing the hard part!!

What we're organizing:

• Collecting Donations: There is a donate button in the side-bar of this website that is linked to her medical expense account.  
• Fundraising Event: We are also organizing an event at the Round Table Pizza in Paradise, CA on Monday, March 5th from 5 to 9 PM.  This event will feature a raffle (tickets will be sold in advance and at the event), bake sale, and silent auction.  Round Table will also be generously donating a portion of the night's sales to our cause.

Donate an item for the raffle or silent auction: We are gladly accepting donations of prizes that can either be part of the raffle or silent auction (depending on the prize).  We are gladly featuring logos of those businesses that make donations on this website, on our Facebook page, as well as on printed and radio/TV advertising.
